The Opportunity
Expanding Personal Injury Law Firm has an immediate opening for an Associate Attorney.
We are seeking an empathetic Associate Attorney to be accountable to provide the best possible customer service while effectively managing client expectations. This is an ideal position for a genuine and hospitable individual with the skills to effectively communicate with individuals of all cultures and backgrounds. This role requires strong interpersonal skills where professionalism, confidentiality, and integrity are showcased. Success in this role will also require strong time management skills and independent judgement. As an Associate Attorney, you must be able to ensure accurate and efficient processing of all assigned matters. We are looking for someone who is self-motivated and detail-oriented to handle client needs and case details efficiently.
- Accountable to provide the best possible customer service to our clients and act as their advocate when working with any third parties on their behalf.
- Contact clients give case updates and check in with client regarding:
- How they are doing and if there is anything else we can do to assist them
- Status of medical treatment
- Satisfaction with Laborde Earles’ handling of the case
- Updates on the status of client’s case
- Meet with clients as requested
- Contact third parties such as insurance adjusters and opposing counsel
- Contact clients give case updates and check in with client regarding:
- Accountable to ensure that all matters assigned are handled as quickly, accurately, and thoughtfully as possible from sign up through disbursal.
- Follow the Matter Plan for each matter assigned and complete each task timely, accurately, and completely
- Review and approve email correspondence and supporting documents as required
- Review and approve pleadings for filing
- Review and approved all written discovery
- Conduct depositions and attend court hearings as necessary.
- Assist with trial preparation
- Review and approve medical treatment and expenses for client up to the limits set for further review.
- Review and approve client disbursals
- Provide guidance/answer all case handling paralegals questions in a timely manner
- Accountable to provide best possible settlement/verdict for client
- Attend mediations on behalf of clients
- Maximize all settlements/verdict amounts
- In depth review of quantum
- In depth review of medical records/bills/history
Job requirements
Skills Needed to Win:
- Knowledge of your Craft: must have strong working knowledge of Louisiana law and willingness to learn our systems and processes
- Display Leadership Qualities: must have a leadership mindset when it comes to working with support staff and fellow attorneys to develop rapport and build successful working relationships
- Communicate: Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Be Empathetic: able to deal empathetically with clients who are injured and scared, while still maintaining professionalism. Must be able to work as a team.
- Present Solutions: able to problem solve, follow instructions, be creative, use discretion, ask questions when necessary and be detail oriented
- Be Honorable: able to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality and display good judgement
- Strategize: able to organize and prioritize effectively and efficiently
Preferred Education & Experience:
- College degree
- J.D. degree from an accredited law school
- Licensed and in good standing to practice law in the state of Louisiana
- Admission to all federal and state courts in Louisiana
- 5-10 years of litigation experience preferred
- Leadership Skills
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
- Must be able to operate basic office equipment
