The Opportunity

We are seeking an empathetic Mass Torts Paralegal to be accountable to provide the best possible customer service to our clients and act as their advocate when working with third parties on their behalf. This is an ideal position for a relatable and engaging individual with the skills to effectively communicate with individuals of all cultures and backgrounds. This role requires strong interpersonal skills where professionalism, confidentiality, and integrity are showcased. A successful candidate for the role will be conscious of deadlines and cognizant of client communication as maintaining regular communication with clients is vital to the case outcome. Success in this role will also require strong oral communication, phone etiquette, and client relations skills as they are accountable for providing hospitable and excellent customer service, while instantaneously obtaining relevant details for assigned cases. As a Mass Torts Paralegal, you must be able to ensure accurate and efficient data entry of all assigned cases. What Winning Looks Like:

  1. Accountable to provide the best possible customer service to our clients and act as their advocate when working with third parties on their behalf.
    1. Contact clients, insurance companies, and medical providers as necessary
    2. Follow up with clients via telephone, e-mail, and regular mail in a timely manner resolving questions and documenting communications.
    3. Maintain confidential information, including medical records, insurance details, and contact information, ensuring proper and accurate data entry and organization within the Case Management System (CMS)
    4. Draft demands
    5. Request, review, and summarize medical records and bills 
    6. Prepare and file complaints via Electronic Case Filing
    7. Prepare and submit Plaintiff Fact Sheets/Plaintiff Profile Forms electronically
    8. Arrange and follow-up with client care as needed
  2. Accountable to ensure that all matters assigned are handled as quickly, accurately, and thoughtfully as possible from sign up through disbursal
    1. Follow the Case Management Matter Plan for each matter assigned and complete each task timely, accurately, and completely
    2. Ensure all data is properly and accurately entered into CMS
    3. Organize, save, and file all matter related documents
    4. Draft, save, mail, fax, and/or email correspondence and supporting documents
    5. Keep track of cases expenses, including copy and postage charges, entering into CMS for each client
  3. Accountable to provide handling attorney support as requested and as outlined in CMS Tasks.
    1. Timely response and completion of tasks assigned by handling attorney
    2. Accurately gather and document activities in the firm’s database


Job requirements

Skills Needed to Win:

  • Communicate: Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; proven ability to professionally interact with clients and co-workers. Must be able to draft professional letters that are free of grammar and spelling mistakes.

  • Present Solutions: able to problem solve, follow instructions, be creative, use discretion, ask questions when necessary and be detail oriented.
  • Be Honorable: Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality and display good judgement
  • Self-Motivate: Must demonstrate the ability to effectively prioritize, organize, and independently manage a personal work load and relevant deadlines while also taking initiate to anticipate future tasks with minimal supervision

Preferred Education & Experience:

  • Previous legal assistant or paralegal experience preferred.
  • College degree preferred.
  • Medical or customer service experience preferred. Claims experience preferred.
  • Competent Computer literacy: able to learn new programs quickly and accurately. Strong keyboarding experience.
  • Spanish-speaking is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
